Week 4: Context Research

Updated: Nov 20, 2018

This week we were asked to gather data about the context using the methodology explained in class for the purpose of focusing and establishing our need, persona and context.

We were also asked to create a presentation depicting our main results that Include images, sketches, videos and bullet points (that’s he for you to see right at the end of this post).

For completing this week’s tasks, we sat with Dana, an architect, product designer and a co-mentor in the miLAB as well as with all of our mentors that advised us about our directions for progress. Dana recommended us to interview people about their daily driving routine, go out and film them so we can see if they act according to their reported driving behaviour on the previous interview. We've noticed that people can't sit peacefully and "just" drive, even with us sitting silently right next to them and filming. Another task we thought about with our mentors was a card association test, using pictures of driving situations happening to every driver (a tired driver, traffic jams etc.). then, the participant chose the picture that describes his or hers driving in the best way and explained to us why he chose that one. In our opinion, this task was too general and was not specific enough to our needs, but we still collected some data from the interviews and videos (uploaded here). Anyway, we managed to sharpen our need and think in a more accurate way for the next steps, so we met at our weekly meetings (every Thursdays) and gathered all the information and work we each collected during the week.
