Last week we were preparing for the Pitch we had to do to 4 different mentors to get feedback on what we had done so far and to get tips and help to continue the progress. And from here we summarised everything we did with them and wrote what our insights are for continuing the process.

THE SUMMARY :
Gilat: spoke to us only about the immediate feedback in different ways: - To convey a sense of imbalance not in the formal form of a vehicle. - Produce a sense of risk within range (not black / white); To show the driver how much we are “slipping” from the range / ranks & to create a feeling that we should stay balanced. As an example she drew a Ping-pong table and actually showed the ball in the middle. When moving gradually to the right side everything was painted red, probably did something "distracting", and when the ball moves to the left everything is painted green and so we seem to be in good shape for a long time. -she suggested that perhaps a human aspect like eyes looking at you "examining you" would be a good idea.
From everything Gilat suggested we decided on adopting the idea of conveying to a person the feeling that he was in some imbalance and passing it in a scale form of some sort. We decided to take some simple animation (eg heart) that empties from its color downwards, when the driver is more and more distracted it empties, when you reach a certain average of many distractions a sound will appear to obtain the drivers attention, at this point apparently the person was very distracted and not concentrated on the road for a few long seconds, when the driver will improve and will be less distracted the “heart” will be filled back. We took this idea from the world of video games such as Fortnight, GTA etc.
In the form of a heart there is a human aspect that is not too direct (like eyes) but still has an emotional aspect with a clear connection to security or health.
Oren: talked to us about the illusion of security that the driver has to understand, how is best to give minimal feedback that still "upsets" the driver.
- It is important to convey the feeling not only of negative feedbacks but also of positive ones. (In our app after the trip).
- to think of how our feedback will be as minimal as possible but without adaptation on the drivers side and remain attractive and "annoying" over time (cognition).
- How to produce a forgiving system? Careful not to give too many False alarms.
- to differentiate feedback from a process that is expressed in the spectrum; And feedback on specific result as good / bad?
- said to look at Toyota's advertisement with water glass on the dashboard to get some ideas.
- To think about what happens with pilots who use in-helmet navigation display, when there is no physical lane.
- How to empower a frightening reality? Change the drivers experiences.
From Oren's comments, we took into consideration the issue of the forgiving system that will not disturb the driver too much but will still attract his attention.
So we decided not to make a sound on each warning but to calculate averages for distractions and give the sound only when the driver reached a certain level of distraction.
In addition, we have taken into consideration the issue of feedback. Giving only negative feedback in real time, and positive feedback that comes after the trip as a summary for further improvements.
It is very difficult to think about how to convey the message to the driver that the vehicle has no security but does not cause a feeling of total insecurity or anxiety.
Orad: Talk about creating a complete language for the system. What's the most critical? Feedback now or later?
- Create a complete language in terms of visibility and accessibility of real-time output and the output in the application.
- thinks that our value should be crazy, if we "distract" the driver it must have a strong reason behind it.
- It should be noted that we do not distract the driver ... We brighten his eyes and make him get back to concentrating on the road.
- To be precise about the matter of value behavior change and focus on it, what exactly do we want to change? … - We want to change the "negative" behavior of a driver who does not deal with the road but with a thousand other things.
Orad made us focus on the essence of the product and prioritize what is most important to us from immediate feedback or after a trip.
For us, the greatest importance is to change the behavior and influence the driver over time. When the driver enters the vehicle and receives a message with data about the previous trip and how to improve on this trip, this is raising the initial awareness even before the person began to drive, that is part A of the process, for us the real-time warning is part B of the process intended to attract the driver's eyes in real time but it is no less important, since it is very important to wake the driver's attention during the act itself. In addition, the feedback that comes from the application after the trip (a summary of the last ride) is the completion of the overall process.
Maayan Cohen: talked about the importance of changing behavior, how will we do it? Rewards
- not necessarily from research studies, she suggested to examine the field, to understand how it happens in video games, how people get addicted to things? What causes someone to leave one behavior and start another?
- Give milestones, progress over time, and think about how we reward people for good behavior (insurances\gas\food & beverages).
- On the one hand think about the intimacy of the product in front of the driver in real time, he does not want others to see if he is "wrong." That is, how to produce something that only the driver can see or understand. On the other hand, how to make it a conversation between people? To involve the entire society in the subject.- Understand what is doable in the course.
Out of Ma'ayan’s suggestions we decided to take the idea of giving landmarks and progress over time. We thought a lot and concluded that compensation can help us promote our goal. We would like to make an agreement with insurance companies and give an insurance discount if they install our product. Yes, an agreement will also be signed with fuel companies so when a person reaches a certain mark on the road he will receive discounts on fuel and in gas-stations stores .
